Default Rebuilding the heads, new intake valves needed

Purchased the 1995 f3 a few months ago. Not running. Had been sitting for a few years.
Tried to compression test, but was having a hell of a time... turns out most of the threads were pulled out of the spark plug holes and intake valves were ridiculously tight.
brought the head to a reputable shop where hes recommending that he can save the exhaust valves, but the intakes are shot. $1000 for a complete overhaul.

Any thoughts before i give the go ahead? Good videos to learn to do it myself maybe? Trash the bike ?(cylinder walls look good, but i have no idea if the engine will have good compression after valve work) 30k on the motor.

Also, I've been soaking the pistons in "Marvel mystery oil" and all hold it well except for cylinder 2, it drains through pretty fast compared to the other 3. Don't know if this means the rings might be bad.

@rc51fan It's hard to imagine that all of the intake valves are bad. I'm not sure how many times over the years anyone on here has actually indicated that they had bad ones. What specifically is wrong with them? Are they bent? Are they rusted and corroded and pitted beyond refacing them? What exactly does the $1000 cover? Is that just a labor fee? I think I'd be searching ebay for a engine swap before sinking half the value of the entire bike into the engine. New valves are available still from Honda though.

well, the quote was for "everything". The specific quote was "the intake valves are pulled up into the head and are too sharp to save." Parts included. ..

I would love to do the work myself,, but I wouldn't have the first clue where to start.

Look for 2nd-opinion from another shop.

I've had head-rebuilds done for around $300. That's for TWO heads from my VF500. Although same number of valves. But I did have them both shaved 0.15" to increase compression at same time. And do fully-radius valve-seat cut for improved flow. Way, way better than 5-angle or 7-angle "competition" cuts. This was done on Sunnen VGS20, although Serdi has similar cutting bits.

What part of the world are you in? That can have a significant impact on costs. Are they the only shop in town? Maybe a second opinion might be in order.

Phoenix AZ. Unfortunetly I couldn't find any other local shops that work on "older" bikes... So, I brought it there.

Yeah, Few places in the area for this kind of work. Plenty of "V-twin", but they wouldn't touch it. lol

I still send car heads to couple outfits in Santa Barbara. Discovered through several decades living there.
For moto, I think they're going back to San Jose, for now. Have CBR250RR that needs valve-job. They have eeny-tiny 22mm valves!!!
