Default Rear Preload

Hi all,
I've just bought a 1995 cbr600f without an owners manual and I want to check/adjust the rear
preload setting but I'm not sure how to go about it. I have the c spanner that was in the tool kit and I
have a ring with numbers on it (1 to 7) at the base of the shock absorber which I have tried to turn but it
won't move, am I missing something ? as I have strained both ways but it's stuck, also is there a mark
somewhere that the numbers are supposed to line up with ?.

Any help gratefully received

Dave.

Give it a good yank it'll move... the stock setting is 3 I think for a normal joe, but I run mine on 5... don't forget everyone is different so experiment and see whats comfortable for you, I had real trouble getting mine round long bends until I saw the previous owner had it on #1 so there was no weight on the front. don't forget the rebound and compression damping too.

The number 1 is at the top of the ring, is this how you tell what the setting is or is
there a mark somewhere else that the numbers should align with?.

Many thanks
Dave.

number 1 is the lowest setting or the weakest spring pre load... as you go up in numbers your putting more load on the spring..

Thanks guys for the help, I've managed to get it to move with a bit more leverage
and have set it on 4 so I'll see how that goes.

Regards
Dave.
