Default Ram air to carb???

what do the small 2 pipes at the front that lead to the carb do?
a friend with a race bike doesnt have them and is telling me to rip them off.

i know the 30 degree cut to the main ram air intake is worth a try but what do these pipes do and why should i pull them off? i know his runs like dog poo at low revs but it is putting out 100 bhp at wheel.

please dont make me ring honda they just beat around the bush

oh and i need a new head gasket whats best material and how thick? i work in CAD/CAM industry with use of drag knife/milling machine and a water jet cutter so why would i buy when i can make?

the tubes are for for low-speed(< 12mph) air intake. you can remove them and bypass the air solenoid, to my knowledge there is no benefit for street riding. if you do a search, theres a tutorial on here somewhere on how to bypass it.

Mine were bypassed also it was a track bike thinking of putting them back on but have to buy a airbox as they crimped one side of the tubes on top of the airbox. But it ran great when I got it from my buddy as you said a little sluggish.

it is a track bike so what are the benefits apart from losing 50grams?

you have to perform the bypass if you are not using stock gauges (the f3 gauges control the solenoid)

As far as I've read, the only reason to bypass the solenoid is if it fails and you'd rather not replace it. How often are you going under 12mph, anyway? It's not hurting anything in there.
