What the heck is this thing?
It was on the left side above the chain.

That is the air diverter for the air intake tubes that would go to the carbs it works off the speedo and diverts air at 12 mph above or below.

It's the air solenoid. How on earth did it get down there? If it's damaged, you can just bypass it if you don't want to replace it...But if it's just out, is your bike even running? I don't know what happens if the air hoses in there are disconnected.

Wow, that bad boy got wrecked. Its not really needed, you can bypass it.
