Default Question on tach speed.

Just bought a 95 CBR, first bike in awhile, and have a question about gearing and tach. What should my RPM's be in last gear running 65ish. Tack showing 6500 rpms and about 7000 at 70 mph. Is this normal? Last bike owned was 750 Honda Nighthawk many years ago and I don't remember it running that high. Any comments.

That might be a little high, even for a 600. If you're regeared though, I would say it's probably about right. Are you sure your in 6th?

That does seem alittle high. I have a 96 F3 with stock gears and it seems like mine turns 6500 or so at 80. I'll take it out this afternoon and check it and post back

It is possible that your bike has been "geared up". My 95 F3 has been geared up, which makes it a little quicker off the line, but you lose a little top end. My bike turns about 6500 at 65 mph but the speedo actually reads about 71 or 72 because when a bike is geared up, the speedo will read higher than you are actually going. So if your speedo says you are going 65 mph and turning 6500 rpm, I have no idea but that does not seem normal.

I am no expert however...............
