i know most bikes will use a 2.5 in but i'm wondering if the f3 has ample room for a 3.5 in filter? if anybody can answer this it'd be much appreciated

No, the 3.5" oil filter is too long. You might be able to get it to fit (maybe remove the headers) but it sits too close to the headers for my money (I do use the 3.5" on my 1000F because there is enough clearance, but not on the F3).
