I have a question about the licence plate light on a 96 F3, it has nowhere I can see to plug it in?
The PO must have cut them back on the loom but can't find any evidence of this, confusing the hell out of me.
L
ooks like I'll have to do a spot of my own awful fisher price wiring but have no idea where
to start. The wiring diagram shows a green and a brown wire the light plugs into, how do I splice it into the existing green and brown wires?
I wouldn't splice unless absolutely necessary, the diagram shows a double bullet connector for the earth (green), I'd add a single to double bullet adaptor into that and plug into the spare connection.
For the power (brown) I'd look for a similar connector and do the same. If no such connector then a proper splice, I'd avoid scotch connectors like the plague.
Avoid any kind of crimp-on splice. Those damages wire and it’ll eventually break wire. Use western-union/linesman knot, solder and adhesive heat-shrink tubing. It’s done this way in pro-motorsports (F1/MotoGP), military and aerospace applications for performance, reliability and durability.
