no lights on!
I have a 1996 and when i was riding last night i noticed that my gauge cluster lights were coming on and off periodically!
Then i noticed that the taillights(running light) and license plate lights don't work either!
Funny thing is that the signals work, brake lights work, and gauges still work!
I checked the fuses and its good, im thinking ignition switch?
please help!

Maybe some of the connections arent plugged in all the way or came loose. My F2 temp guage wasnt working one time and I checked the plugs underneath the guage cluster and they were loose/not plugged in all the way. I would assume the F3 has similar plugs connections under the guages. Especially if some of it works and some of it dont.

i appreciate the response.
so i cant find a broken wire.all the connectors are connected properly, there are no melted or corroded wires or connectors!
when i turn the ignition to the ON position the headlight and front indicator lights come on but that's all.
The gauge cluster lights, rear taillight, and license plate lights Don't. I find this strange

so i decided to take another look and i wiggle some wires that have a connector at the gauges and the lights came on, this happened a few time but now i cant get them on again!
Im not sure if its the actual guages or if its a wire.the connector seems fine and looks like all the pins make contact. im wondering if i can get around this without having to buy new guages.
Couldn't i just put led's for the guages and wire the tailight with the ignition?

first off the connectors you were wiggling, disconect them,if you have a meter set it to volts, turn the ignition on (are your lights on all the time or do you turn them on and off) with the lights on put the positive probe in the connector and the other to a good earth, if you get a reading you have power, if you dont put the positive probe in the back of the connector on the wire if you can get to it, is there power there, if so the connector isnt connecting (you could rejion the wire by taking out the connector if you dont, you will have to look at the cluster,
im not sure if you have pull out bulbs or they are part of the cluster, just check the bulb socket for power.

ok so heres an update! the problem was at different connecter not at the gauges!
it ended up being a brown wire at one end of the connector and the it became a black and brown stripe wire a the other end!!! so the whole time i was checking the wrong wires! 2 of the 4 pins were corroded o i cut the wires, twist and soldered them with heat shrink tubing and now it works great!
I really appreciate the replies to my post.
