Default Newbie here (former ZX-11 rider) - Here's my story...

I just bought a 1995 CBR 600 F3 last night for $1,500. It's been sitting a while, but I put some fuel system cleaner in it and it runs pretty smooth now.

I just sold a 1991 Kawasaki ZX-11 a couple weeks ago. I've come to the realization that Kawasaki makes REALLY FAST junk. I bought it for $2,200 and put another $2,000 into it including removing the engine and replacing the transmission gears (that was HORRIBLE). Things were failing all the time... but when it was running, it was SCARY fast!!!

This CBR is a LOT slower, but a LOT lighter and more nimble in the corners. It's a good bike... I just miss the 2.8 second 0-60 times. I teach a sport bike course in the Air Force and this bike will be perfect for that. We always had Honda bikes when I was growing up, so I kind of feel like the prodigal son coming home...

P.S. - 23 years of street riding and haven't dropped a bike yet!

Good to meet y'all, [sm=smiley20.gif]

I've already been teased pretty bad about my "Uranus Violet" and "Yellow" paint scheme. I have to let them know I'm very secure in my manhood...

But for $1,500 I'd probably ride it if it was ALL Uranus Violet.

From what I understand back in the day Kawasaki was junk. Now I think it doesn't matter. All your big Jap 4s are going to be very dependable. I think Honda will edge them out but most people will total a bike out before it can be found out. Odds are someone doesn't keep a bike for more than 2-3years and eventually it gets into bad hands.

As for "Fast Junk". I'd love to have one of those Kawasaki H1s with the 2stroke tripple. Those things are wicked fast.

What base are you stationed at? My dad was Air Force and one thing I learned about Air Force bases is long jet runways have long car straight aways beside them. Which I bet that ZX-11 loved.
