Not to be cold or anything...but from what you just said, you need to get some real personal instruction, probably on a different bike to start off with. Get some confidence on a smaller bike. Do you have any buddies with something small? any classes in your area?

I agree, you need someone who can be there and help you out, show you the ropes of the bike. We have a lot of members here in the Chicago area. Dont want to over step, but maybe someone here could help you out a bit.

agreed, an experience rider and a small secluded stretch with full gear and nothing but corn on either side is the way to learn. I almost met the corn on my first ride, but it sounds like your past that, just keep working on the feel of it. slow off the clutch, slow on the throttle. if you stall, start her back up and try again, better than the other way around.

+1 on the dirt bike!!!!!!!! i taught two of my friend on my dirt bike.....lol they both wrecked a couple times, i wrecked a couple time too though when i was teaching them, but it was a good learning experience for us all, i let one of them ride my street bike and he did very well, i have not let let the other two ride my street bike.

get a good feel for it all in general, and a good friend too, thats the most important thing!! my friends were not looking out for me when i learned to ride(04 GSXR 1000 no gear, no helmet, had never road anything more than a 50cc before, it was a terrible idea but i was addicted) keep your head above the water.
