Default New Swing arm advice please.

Hi All,

My swing arm has seen better days and is rusting, although it hasn't gone through, its covered in rust. I've seen a decent looking swing arm on ebay from a FV/FW 1997/1998, my question is, will this fit my 1995/6 FS ?

Thanks

Rob.

Well the guy selling it says its the same for all the 1995 to 1998 models, so I've ordered it.

Does anyone have a good tutorial for removing the swing arm from a CBR 600 FS (F3)?

Thanks.

The swing arm will fit. To remove the old swing arm, start with breaking everything loose. So loosen the caliper bolts, rear axle nut, top shock nut, dog bone nut at the frame, and the swing arm pivot nut. Now it's time to support the bike. I do this with a cherry picker/engine hoist and tie downs. It can be lifted from the mid and tail section of the bike to the point of where only the rear wheel comes off the ground. You don't need a foot, just a few inches is good enough. After you have the rear of the bike off the ground, remove the rear brake. Next comes the rear wheel. Once the wheel is off, start removing the nuts for the upper shock nut, swing arm pivot nut, the dog bone nut at the frame. Once you've removed all the nuts, put a piece of wood on the ground to let the swing arm rest on. Now push out the bolt for the shock. Be sure to support the swing arm when pushing this out because it'll fall to the ground if you don't. Now remove the dog bone bolt. The last bit is to remove the swing arm pivot bolt by punching it out a little and then pull it out. Be sure to support the swing arm before removing the bolt because it'll fall to the ground if you don't. After you have the swing arm out, o ahead and remove the shock arm. Be sure to lube up the bearings in the suspension. Honda doesn't spare a whole lot of grease and they're right in the line of fire when riding in the rain. Reassemble in the reverse order.

Thanks for the info and all the tips. I'll keep everyone updated on how it goes, hopefully I'll be starting it within the next few weeks.

Go to tradebit and download repair manual. Best 5 bucks an f3 owner can spend.
