New F3 owner
Hey all,
I just bought a 1998 CBR600F3 tonight and will be picking it up tomorrow night. It is red with yellow writing and wheels, and has D&D exhaust and flush mount front turn signals and integrated rear.
Just wondering what the first things I should do are as far as a tune-up goes. What is a 520 chain?
Also, when sitting the bike overheats wuickly it seems. I'm thinkin the fan isnt coming on? I was gonna just wire it up so the fan is always on. What do you guys think?
Thanks
-Scott

The original colors for the 98 F3 were, solid red, red/black, black/tan, and Smokin' Joe's purple.

A 520 chain is thinner and lighter than the stock chain. It is 1/4" wide, as compared to the 3/8" wide standard 530 chain.
Do you think the bike needs a tune - does it hesitate or feel sluggish? Do the brakes feel spongy? Otherwise, see if you can find out from the person who sold it to you when the last time the coolant, plugs, oil and filter were changed. Make sure the chain is clean and lubed. Ride safe.

I figured out the problem with the overheating... I stopped on the way home with it and the fuse was blown so i replaced it and the whole way home on the highway the bike stayed at about halfway up the temp gauge. However, when the bike is just sitting there or riding around town, the temp gauge is almost all the way up... Is this normal or should I check it out? I paln on doing a full tune-up this weekend from plugs/wires to oil to coolant along with replacing the chain and such.
One more thing, the bike seems to hesitate when it is idling and I rev it real quickly, the revs dont fall, they jsut dont climb for a second... What could this be?
Thanks for the replies

Maybe you need to check the throttle cable for the hesitiation in revving.
