Hmm, I would have to go dig up the paint cans to figure out what the color is named. But I bought my paint from Lordco, so whatever brand it is that they mix there.

I used a spray gun and compressor, be prepared to do lots of sanding and body prep work and do it properly the first time or you will be kicking yourself for as long as you own the bike.

You're going to need your primer which will be a 2 part mix, paint thinner (get lots so you can use it to clean your gun), paint, clear coat (2 part mix), some type of surface cleaner to remove all dirt/oil/grease before priming and before painting. You'll need a CLEAN well ventilated shop preferably temperature controlled... You'll also need a respirator with organic filter cartriges or you will get high as a kite or poison yourself while sanding. Get a paint suit too, it's just like a polyester jumpsuit. I'd get some body filler (bondo) as well, just in case you discover some dents or scratches under your current paint.

Last but not least... LOTS of patience and practice on something before starting on your bike, you should also look online for some instructions on painting with the spray gun as it requires a certain method for best results.

Best of luck to you dude, but if you want perfection I'd pay somebody to do it, that way if it's terrible they have to fix it for free!

 

I have been really considering painting my bike the last couple days but called it off just because I have a deadline so I can take my bike to school w/ me. plus I reallyshould practice on something first. On a better note, I was talking to a painter and I can get some left over paint they mixed idntical to the orange off a new Lamborghini Murcielago. google it, I think its bada$$. I can get two bases of that two toned with a pearl white/opal and clearcoated for $500 labor and all. definitlty the most expensive thing so far but paint really makes the bike and i think its a good idea just to have it done the first time. hopefully this fender comes tommorow cuz I am itchin to ride.

 

that is a great price and the orange looks gret on a bike.

 

I say do it up, you can always ask them to give you a bit of a break on the price, worst they can say is no.
