Nervous my 2002 F4I will break down!
Hello all thank you for looking. Anyway I am pretty new to the forums and already taken the classroom part of my MSF, I am taking the two day riding session in like a week. I bought a 2002 CBR F4I about 4 weeks ago from an owner who needed money. The bike right now has 29,700 miles on the odometer! and I realized it was okay because the owner claimed it was well taken care of. About two days ago I came across a forum and read that most bikes have problems at like 20k miles plus. Is this true? My Honda seems healthy and starts up no problem. I saw a guy on youtube who had his F4I over 100k miles. I know the life of the bike depends on how its taken care of but the previous owner was the one who put all the mileage in the bike. I also got the bike dusty, IDT the previous owner used it much. What bothered me the most though was the rear tire, it looked like they did some burnouts. Am I just being really paranoid here? can someone please enlighten me. I am just nervous my bike would need some serious repairs and I am tight on money. I got the bike for $1600 and I am thinking of selling it for maybe $2000 and get a bike with lower miles.

Mine is at 206,000 and running like brand new.... hell I rode it cross country (by myself) and back in a week when it had 150k... didn't miss a beat (actually turned 150k halfway across, lol), and has never once let me down or left me stranded. Quite possibly one of the most reliable bikes ever! hahah

Personally... You sound quite a bit paranoid; if you are going to be scared of riding a bike due to miles, you may need to visit your local dealership and see about picking up a new one.
But then again, if you actually ride the bike... the new one will have a good bit of miles on it in no time. I put almost 3000 miles on my bike this WINTER... Can't imagine how many I'll be putting on it once it warms up a bit.
