Hi everyone, I'm new here. I just bought my first streetbike, a 1996 CBR600 F3 with 20k miles on it. Its got the common problem of popping out of second gear under hard acceleration, and I realize that the transmission needs to be rebuilt. Anyone know of a good place besides the dealer to get the parts from? I'd prefer to get new parts as opposed to used salvage parts. Thanks.

I found a good deal on a 1994 CBR600F2 tranny that's in excellent condition. Will these parts interchange into my F3? I checked the service manual and it said that the only difference was the third gear ratio.

 

Why not just put the f2 tranny on the f3? It will fit I think the gears are different tho. but thats not a real big deal

 

I know third gear is a different ratio. Is that what you mean? So the tranny will swap out? Because if it will, then I'll go ahead and pick it up, but the guy selling it said only about half of the parts interchange.

 

Yea thats what I ment...The f2/f3 is basically the same exact bike except for fairings and some other minor things..Im most certain that the f2 tranny will mount to the f3..But I am not to be held responsible if it doesnt but im pretty sure it will Im completely rebuilding my 96f3 and have already used parts off of the 94 f2

 

Ok cool. Thanks for the help, and I'll be sure to let people know what parts interchange. I'll be more than happy if I can just salvage 2nd and 6th countershaft gears, shift forks, and shift drum. That should get rid of my annoying second gear problem.
