Wow, that is a killer deal if it's not stolen or bent.
I agree with above poster that says starting and running isn't helping, but it isn't hurting since the oil is actually getting into places and keeping rust from forming. I'd get a set of bike stands and go through everything to make sure nothing is blocked or dry rotted. (pay attention to fuel lines as they will harden and crack on you.)

The top speed is listed as 152mph stock. I've been up to 140 personally, but I've never had a chance to top it out. Take it easy getting started and have a good time. I've got the exact same bike - basically stock. It'sa great bike to learn on. It's plenty fast when you get on it, but it's still apredictable andcomfortable ride. You're going to love it.
P.S. Mine's never been layed down, but I payed 3,000 for it - you got a smokin deal.

There is nothing on 4 wheels than can keep up with these bikes apart from a few hyper cars, I have had mine up to 150mph and that was going up a hill although the speedos are not brilliant. Can't get over the milage (I thought mine was low at 10000 when I got it) My CBR was my first bike and I can't fault it, I honestly don't think I will ever sell it. Like someone else said get yourself some good leathers coz if you go down they can save your ****.
And remeber take it easy but don't be scared of it.
All the best mate and enjoy it - just wish we were having a good summer here so I could get out on mine a bit more.

DO IT!!!! DO IT!!!! DO IT!!!!
Your bike sounds like a great deal. It's a great bike to start on plus it looks clean. I would do it myself.
Don't worry about cleaning the engine although it may cost youa little cash. First, try putting some fuel additive in the tank. You may have to do that a couple of times to clear out the carbs if not then get the carbs cleaned by a shop. It might set you back a little ($300+) but for what you are paying I say it's well worth it.
As far as riding goes, take it easy at first!!! There is no need to get on your bike and hit 100mph because you can. I stopped ridding for about 10 years and figured out I wasn't as good as I thought I was. No problem though. I foound some buddies that I ride with now and the great part of it I can ride with the comfort of being surrounded by experienced riders. Don't do anything stupid. I always say let the cool guy do the cool stunts and I'll ride to stay alive. Always remember that it's not if you go down but when you go down. We all kiss the pavement sooner or later but I think it's how you ride that will increase the odds either way.
