I repacked a Yosi slip on a few years back on a old F1 and it was a MF to get a part, but it did come apart...
I can see what your thinking about doing and yes I don't see why it could not be done.
Cut the baffle pipe down to your length and cut the outer shell down to fit the baffle pipe, repack the slip on and screw it back together.

check out the pics of the "custom shorty". i cut it off at the back side of the hanger where it was all scratched up. ended up being 5". and i gotta say ofter taking it apart i love that micron. so easy to get apart, just one bolt. in other words no drilling out rivets...nice. love it or hate it looks and sounds way radder, a much deeper sounding rumble
