Default Matching paint - 98 F3 red - in a rattle can?

I want to match the red on a 98 F3 tankIbought for track bike project....is there anything in a rattle can that matches closely..?..this is a track bike project and doesn't justify a $300 paint job...it doens't even justify the $35 cans from Colorrite that are matches given that it would take three or fourof them to spray a full set of body work.

Thanks,
JB

Spend the jack man...

When you're draggin' knees at the track and pictures start snaping, you'll want a nice looking bike. Stunt riding may be different, but you can tell something about a rider by the looks of his track bike.

I say paint this bitch.

Just cause it comes from a can, doesn't mean it will look bad....I am just hoping to shorten my search for a good color match.

I always say paint a race bike in one of the available colors of duct tape....I plan to ride this bike on the track once, then send it off....$120 versus $15....when you hope to make $900 thats a lot of money....had I not gotten hosed on wheels and exhaust purchases it would be less of an issue.

Besides, I have two other "pretty bikes" that I can pass ducati's with.

I know, look at my avatar!

I like the duct tape idea, lol.

Seriously though, wouldn't a car shop be able to hook you up? They can key that sh*t for you and give you the paint. If you're making money off of racing, I'm sure you know someone that has a compressor and you could find a gun if you tried...

Paint it Honda red - paint shouldn't be much more than $40.

Duplicolor makes a Flash Red in a can that's virtually an exact match to my '98 F3. You can get it at almost all the major auto parts stores.

PERFECT! I'll check it out. I used a duplicolor bronze color for the wheels (specifically a wheel paint besides), and a hammer finish silver on the frame.....not sure if I should tell you all, but I let my 5 year old pick the color scheme out. He's having a good time helping assemblei the track bike.

Are you planningon painting the tank also? If so don't do it. Rattle can paint plus spilled gas from a fill up (even with a clearcoat on top) is a bad mix.

GO TO http://www.colorrite.com/ THEY ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE I KNOW OF THAT HAVE THE ACTUAL FACTORY FORMULAS FOR MATCHING BIKE PAINT..... THEY RECENTLY STARTED DOING OTHER PAINTS BUT HAVE ALWAYS DONE MOTORCYCLE PAINTS AND THEY ARE VERY GOOD AND REASONABLY PRICED.. I USED THEM TO PAINT A PANEL ON MY 01 GSXR TELEFONICA AND IT MATCHED PERFECT. THEY SELL IT BY THE PINT AND IN SPRAY CANS. WORKS WAY BETTER THAN THE DUPLICOLOR CRAP
