its your fuel cut off relay thats acting up. try either jumping it so its always on or bypass the pump.

I'd been putting 87, then read the manual and it recommended 91, so I still had some 87 in my tank and filled it up with 91 and some seafoam. Could this have messed it up even more.

no. 87 is what you should be using. seafoam can only help if used in moderation.

Do one thing at a time.

First jump the fuel relay so that its always pumping. If that solves your problem you know its the relay.

then....

If that doesnt work you can bypass the pump. to do so just have the fuel line go from the tank-->fuel filter--->carbs. this will gravity feed the carbs which is only a temporary fix. If you are bypassing the pump make sure to unplug it, you dont want it dry pumping.

let us know how you make out.

yes it matters if u run 87, 89, or 91.....manual says 91 or HIGHER over time if you keep running 87 not good for the engine, loss in performance and fuel economy etc..... but its your bike so....

read the manual, engineers know what they are talking about.....

For future reference, 91 RON = ~87 at the pump here in the US.

You can run the lowest octane safely before pinging. Unless your bike is tuned for mid grade/high test or race fuel, anything above 87 is a waste of money. The higher the octane is rated the hotter it is to burn. Unburnt gas results in many things, but specifically fouled plugs.

Hope this clears up any confusion.

Well after a couple of days of not riding by bike, I finally started her up and rode her to work. I didn't lose power and it didn't turn off. I noticed that when I miss shifted it lose some power but I quickly corrected it and it operated normal. Might it be my shifting? I tried shifting differently this time and my bike rode better, but I'm still gonna check the relay this weekend.

As for the grade of fuel, I don't know I'm confused, so 91 is 87 in the US? So for what country was the manual written for?
