Knocking noise when setting off.

Hi Everyone,
Got a knocking on my 1996 CBR600F when setting off in first. This only happens when the bike has warmed up. In neutral with the engine running, I can rev it, press clutch, no noises at all. Select first gear as normal, still sounds great. Set off from stationary and I hear usually 3 knocks, sounds like a chain possibly. It does it when the clutch has been fully released and im just starting to move off. Tried it in other gears and I cannot hear anything. I have tried slowing down to near enough a stand still while in first and then accelerating again, nothing. Just seems to be when I set off from a stationary position. Which is making me think it could be the clutch as this is the only thing im doing different.
Any ideas?
Thanks Rob.

If you say it sounds like a chain possibly, then the only other chain is the timing chain.
I have not had my cam chain tensioner go on me, so sorry I can't say if that's one of the symptoms.
I can't think why the clutch would knock I'm afraid, certainly doesn't sound like the plates are sticking.
I'm sure someone on here will point you in the right direction, may well be the cam chain tensioner.
Good luck,
Ant.

Well it looks like it was something to do with the chain. Removed chain and cleaned it, also cleaned both sprockets. There was a lot of build up behind the front sprocket cover. Set chain up with about 17mm of movement. Seems to be fine now.
Thanks for the input everyone![Smile](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
