A battery is a battery. In a car your alternator and your battery work together. That being said if your battery won't charge it is either defective or your charging system on your bike needs to be replaced. If you do need a battery, try to get a "lifetime warranty" battery. There is no such thing LOL, but for 20.00 extra you will never have to worry about purchasing a battery again even if you ruin it.

You may need a new battery AND a new voltage regulator/rectifier. My 96 had the V/R go out and I replaced it then a few months later the battery went bad all of a sudden ( it would charge up but when I put it back on bike it had no voltage) so I replaced the battery. THEN only a couple of weeks later it fried ANOTHER V/R! But what happened the battery was going bad and it fried the first V/R and because it wasn't keeping it charged correctly the battery went bad, which in turn overworked the new V/R frying it. so I replaced the V/R again and fixed the problem.
