Default Just picked up a 98 CBR600SE F3 for 300$

Hey everyone. Just picked up a bike today in okay condition for 300. 21k miles, engine turns over. The previous owner pointed to the oil cooler cap and told me water was leaking there, I figured it was just one of the rubber O rings but have yet to get into it yet. The radiator is off the bike in the picture below along with the exhaust. The bike does not have its original fairings but does have a complete set of what he called "race" fairings. They make the tail look huge so I'm thinking I will cut them to look more like the original. My main questions are how common are problems with the oil cooler and he didn't have keys for the bike so he drilled out the gas tank key hole and either was unable to get it out or then put it back into place incorrectly and now I can not get the gas cap out of the tank, does anyone have any tips for how I can get it out without damaging the tank? I plan on completely restoring this bike and am sure I will have many more questions as I get my hands dirty.

Default Got fuel cap off

Got the fuel cap off today with some careful use of a pry bar. Now we play the waiting game while parts come in.

Fair play mate, that looks like a fair old project.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread with interest.

Good luck.
