Default Intake/velocity stack question

Hey all, I've searched and can't find the answer to this question. My 96 has two different length intake stacks, two short and two long. I removed the carbs to do some work and didn't notice they weren't all the same length until I went to reinstall. Does anyone know if the short stacks are for the center two cyls or the outer ones? I think I put the short ones inboard as it just seemed to fit/work better, but however I put them back the bikes runs fine.

LOL, I don't even remember. I always put them back where they came from. I never paid any attention to the fact that one was longer than the other.
