Default Intake valves

I posted in the wrong sect, stickies. Well these are the shim thickness
4a2.10,4b2.08,3a2.10,3b2.10,2a2.12,2b2.10,1a2.12,1 b2.10
I couldn't get measurements on all but 3b0.04mm and 2a0.10.
The rest were to tight to fit my smallest feeler,0.02mm.
So if anyone who done this , how would I go about getting right tolerance if I couldn't get gaps mm. Do I need to get a whole kit and work from there? Thanks !

I'm not following what you're saying here. Are you saying that this is how thick the shims are that are installed under the lifters ? Or is this the gap that you're measuring between the lifter and the camshaft lobes ?

Are you rotating the engine as you move from check to check ? It seems really unusual that you'd have no gap at all (<.02mm).

Yes I check by rotating. Followed the valve thread here. I even tried to turn it a little to see I'd I was off on lining up timing but no luck , just to tight. I was getting good reads on all exhaust valves. And yes those were shim thickness.

Would the formula work with an input of 0.00mm for the recorded clearance to determine a starting point. Example. 0.00-0.16+2.10=1.94 . I think my best bet is to get a full kit, I still will need exhaust shims one day. Anyone know who sell the best kits?

I believe that Hotcams makes a good shim kit that will fit the cbr. I think that the shim width on the cbr is 7.48mm wide, and if that is the case shim kits from a modern yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, or Honda 250f will fit. Do a quick search on eBay for Hotcams shim kit, and they are available for something like $70 or so for a range of 1.2 mm to 3.0 or 3.4mm in increments of .05mm with three in each increment. If you want to save something like $30, I also believe that there are refill kits for the shim kit that will give you another three or four of a range of sizes that you would need.

If the intake valves are tight, you have to find a shim that you can get a reading off of before you can plug it into that formula. I think it has to do with how long the valve has been zeroed out.

Thanks. I think I'll buy one for the 0.04mm and plug that it to each valve . I know it will take long and lot of work but then I will now which ones to buy. I might need 4 of the same kind.

Finished the valve adjustment last night and once I put everything back together it fired up great! No more gas shooting out of air jets and it idles very smooth now. Got up at 4am to go to work, put it on choke, and fired with one tap. This forum is great! Thanks!!!
