Default Installed APE CCT...

So I got my new CCT today and I just got done installing it. I have it bolted on but not all the way screwed in yet... I started the bike and there was no sign of ticking at all (which I am very happy of lol) but with the tensior almost all the way extended out I don't know how much I should tighten it... As far as I know to much tighten could cause damage as so can it being to loose.

I let it almost all the way out and still didn't hear any ticking so I tightened the CCT some but now I don't know if it's in a safe spot.. I'm not sure if I have it to tight or to loose!! lol how can you tell??

What I did when i installed mine was...

Started bike, backed it out till it started to rattle then slowly turned it back in till it stop. Then I turned it another 1/4 and locked it.

Just my .02 but I would remove valvecover and adjust chain slack per APE's instructions. They recommend 3/8" slack between the cams. To me the extra work is worth the peace of mind.

I just talked to the guy (Ordered mine...) that runs the CBRZONE APE site, and he said to TDC the engine, then (with the lock screw loose) turn the tension screw with your fingers until you feel it pushing on the chain, then back it off a quarter turn and lock the nut. He said then you want to rotate the motor a few times and recheck the adjustment, to insure its correct.

They must've changed their specs since last time I bought one. Was it John? He's pretty much the only guy at APE I ever dealt with.

I forgot his name (Me bad...)
He said it comes with instructions, but he told me the following would work.
I am sure the included documented process must be more intense than the phone verbal, as the butt covering thing is important when it comes to documented procedures.
I myself, plan on following the written docs (If it is included).

I'm the same way. Like I said, it's been a while (few years) since I've bought one. They last forever so I just swap them over to next project. All that I had bought had written specs and they said 3/8" but my info could be outdated.

I didn't follow the instructions :P don't remember what they were when I did mine.

I didn't TDC the engine but honestly haven't had any problems.
