Default Idle issues, please help.

97 F3, bought the bike with bad carb and rusty tank, cleaned and treated tank no problem. Bought carb from ebay off a good running bike (or so they say), butthe bike will not return to idle when you pull to a stop, evently it will come down after about a min of less. Also the throttle is not very snappy, almost like the choke is on but I checked the choke cable and free play and it seems to be good.

Newer fuel pump, new fuel filter, strainer and cut off switch. The filters inline on air feed lines are gone, boxes still there but filters fell appart when cleaning them. I thinkI may have the carb insulators under ther carbs upside down, but they fit just fine. If anyone could give a direction to go would be great. I do have the manual and have tried most things in therebut not all.The bike fires right up and rides ok, just will not return to a normal idle. Thanx in advance, Nick

Still deal with mine right now, waiting for my carb's to get here.. Have you looked at the floats, clean them as well with the jets. And for not snapping back maybe you need a new throttle cable too? Get some seafoam, any auto place will have it. Put half the can in w/full tank of 91octane, you can also use it for oil too. Hope that helps out

With engine off looking down into carbs, flaps will pull open easy with turn of throttle gripand snap closed when left go. Throttle cables newer and I oiled it when I installed it, I havent done any cleaning other that before I installed them I sprayed the carbs with carb cleaner. Im thinking after reading more posts they might need synced. It will idle perfectly until you give it gas, its slowly revs and then takes some time to return to idle. I could take a video of it if someone thing it would help better describe the issue. Idle currently set at 1600rpm.

I've heard one of the main symptoms of needing a carb sync is that it slowly returns back to idle, as you described. I'd give that a shot.
