I CANT GET THIS THING TO START!!!!!
For the past week I've been trying to get my bike to start. It's a 93 f2 with a 98 f3 motor. I have the wiring harness hooked up right, fresh spark plugs, but i just cant get the damn thing to start!! I have exhausted all ideas, can anyone help me??? Whats next???
will it not crank at all ? do u have sprark. are u getting fuel ? these are sme things we need to knwo to be able to help ya. so give some more info and ill be hapy to try and help
The plugs are brand new (good spark), It is turning and turning, but wont start..... I have the tank and airbox off, so I dont know if thats affecting it, but I am pretty sutre I am getting fuel, becuase I poured some gas into the fuel hose to fill the bowls. The carbs are clean... I cleaned them by hand carefully....I dont know where else to go with this... Could the airbox being off affect it to the point of not starting??? Or do I need to look at the motor(valves etc)???
Firstt get yourself some carb starter fluid spray and spray it in the carbs
Second-when i took off the gas tank i taped a funnel to the gas line and just poured enough in so that the level was visible above the tube, in other words, excess gas. this ensures the carbs have enough.
Third- the airbox off shouldnt keep it from starting
Fourth- is this a new engine, or has it been running before on this peticular bike?
thats all i've got

I bought the bikefrom a freind who just recently wrecked his f3, and had a spare f2 chassis laying around, he put the f3 motor, wiring harness, carbs, etc in it.... so its not a new motor, just a transplant. It was running well in his f3.....but I cant get it to start. I have not tried the carb starter spray, but I did fill the fuel hose with fuel using a funnel just like you said. It backfires and sputters, but just wont start.....
WELL"vallip" was right, my ignition leads were crossed. Once I fixed it, the bike fired right up!!!!!!! It actually sounds really strong, but It needs quite a bit of tuning..... It will only rev to like 8k before it sputters off. BUT I AM SO EXCITED TO GET THIS THING GOING!!!!! THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THE HELP!!!!!
