What the hello is this thing???
Look at the pic below, there is a little white plastic coated cable with a black/dark grey **** on the end of it that you can turn, goes towards the carburators... what in the world is that thing used for? PO has NO idea... but I bet it does something that you aren't supposed to screw with... thanks for the help!

Yes, it's the idle adjustment screw. Basically it connects to the idle adjustment needles on your carbs which allows you to dictate what RPM's you want your bike to idle at. From what I've read in the manuals, the idle speed is adjusted to certain models. Meaning in California the idle speed is different than that of the other 49 states due to emissions crap.
It's ok to mess around with it. Just don't put your idle too high or too low. Currently I think mine is set to 1200 RPM's or so.
