How To Replace Your Exhaust System - CBR 600F3
That gasket did exactly match the diameter of that lip. You can have it for what I paid plus shipping if you like, about $20. Or, you could probably just order the mid pipe from Yoshimura. The mid pipe is probably the part that is unique to each bike and the muffler is probably the same for most bikes (I'm guessing). The mid pipe part number is CB616SOT (that's an Oh, not a zero). Let me know.
Hey Dirt,
This is a bit off topic, but while searching for an answer to this question I came upon this thread and noticed your old exhaust is the same as mine (vance and hines). My problem is that I absolutely can't seem to change my oil filter with this exhaust because of the way it twists towards the headers, is there any way around this or do i have to loosen it from the headers every time I change the oil ? :[
Thanks !

IDoDirt was fitting back a factory header. With the factory header you don't need to loosen anything
to get to the oil filter. I'm guessing you've got an after-market header pipe and that's what's messing
with you. Does your header go 4 into 2 into 1? Does it have cross-overs between 1&2/3&4? Those are
all signs of stock header pipes.
Hope that helps,Ern

Well what caught my eye in his pics was how header 1 overlaps header 2, mine does that also. On other f3's I've seen they're more parallel than mine. That overlap really screws me when i'm trying to remove the filter. If they are the stock headers then how the heck do get this thing out without messing with the entire exhaust system ?!?! I just want to change my oil in peace ! LOL
p.s. Thanks for the response on this old thread !

I never had to do anything unusual to change the oil filter on her bike with the aftermarket exhaust or with the factory header on it. Are you using aftermarket filters on your bike ? There are 2 different sizes from Purolator that will fit on the bike, but one of them has a longer body and probably would interfere with the header during install/removal. I use the longer one on my 1000F, but the standard size on the F3. Here are the 2 part numbers one for the F3 and the other I use on the 1000F. Both of these filters have the same thread size.
Puralator PureONE PL14612 (this one is about 2.5" long)
Puralator PureONE PL14610 (this one is about 3.25" long)

Yeah the headers you have in that picture look different than what i'm speaking about... but what you're saying sounds right. Its probably the longer filter. Basically it gets wedged between where it screws in and where the headers are and I can either completely destroy the filter to get it out or loosen the headers and move them out a bit then it slips out. And yes, it does have aftermarket headers, but the previous owner had installed them. I will post a Pic as soon as i get a chance to show you guys what I'm talking about. I really appreciate the replies though guys ! Thank you !

The photo in the above post was of the OEM headers that I was putting back on the bike. They've been Ceramic coated, which is why they look so nice. This is the only photo that I have from before with the old V&H headers. It unfortunately doesn't show a clear image of the filter to header clearance.
Yesh yesh yesh !!!! Thats the pic i was talking about ! See how header 1 and 2 overlap a bit instead of being parallel like the oem ones ? Thats what i speak of !
it gets in the way of my filter so frustrating -_____- it's all good though, I think i may just get a new exhaust system and then that'll solve the issue lol. New* exhaust so i can change the oil ! xD
