yea i was actually considering making 2 pieces to fill the gaps temporarily, but you really cant see it when im riding it so no biggie.

First off, that light is an incondesent and way too expensive in my eyes. You can get an integrated LED for about $60 new I thought. Anyway, you can try and see if anyone has a '97-'98 tail mount ... it will be a C shaped piece when looking from the LH side of the bike. The taillight mounts to this piece as well as the center tail. Sure you will be able to mock something up that will work better in your position for less cost.

a) paint the tank black
b) paint the white part back and leave the red.
