Help with Jet numbers
So my bike was running like crap again. Bogging under load and once it went into 3rd it would just die out. Found another pair of carbs of craigslist with Stage 1 kit so I picked it up.
Found out when I took my carbs apart my main jets was set up like this.
135/138/135/138
The other spare carbs off craigslist was:
138/138/138/138
I did do some searching and found out that stock is set up:
135/138/138/135
Hence why number 3 was so dirty and the spark plug was the only one without the white tip on it.
The question is, is it smart to put 138 main jets across or should I just stick with the stock set up? Pilots slow jets on both carbs are a 40s.

Thanks for the reply jveach. The thing is the bike has a K&N filter and a Yoshimura pipe on it. The spark plugs 1,2 and 4 had white tips. Probably was too lean? I had bought the other carbs off craigslist because it said it came with a stage 1 jet kit. Its Factory Jets. Being that its does have the mods I was wondering if by running 138's across would be enough fuel for the bike or should I still stick with the stock set up? I've also found out that stage 1 is 140's on the inside and 138's on the outside with Dynojet.
I just want to get this right before I install the carbs in. They are a pain in the *** to do and I have become a pro at spark plugs with these bikes as well.

Is it a slip-on or a full system? You may be OK with those size jets if it's just a slip-on, but if it's a full sys, I would definitely go a little bigger across with a differential for two and three. You'll want to pull the needle up a little too. You've got the right idea about reading your plugs, as that will get you in the general ball park. Do plug drops or put an O2 sensor up it's bum if you really want to tune across the range.
