headlight help
Well, i bought a 95 F3 for 800 bucks. it sat in a field for at least 6 months before i bought it. got it home and did what i could to clean the carbs, and got her fired up. let the shop have her to finish fine tuning. now she runs like a scalded dog.
now my problem is the headlight quit working, and its driving me nuts. all the wiring looks good.
is there a way to hardwire a headlamp with a toggle switch on the bars? i just recently installed a push button starter, so small electrical things i can take care of. I just need to know if it is possible or even a good or bad idea to hardwire a headlight.

You can do anything you want, thought about it myself because here in Oz ours are wired so that the headlight stays on all the time. Switch block has no "Off". Some idiot decided we could be seem more with it on. used to freak me out riding to work with the Sun behind me.
Anyway, before you go doing that, it could be something as simple as a blown bulb, maybe some little critter making its home behind the bulb connection/headlight switch or corrosion (since it's been sitting in a field) or even a blown fuse. A toggle switch is only going to be doing wot the orginal should be doing in the 1st place. So check that out before you go to all that trouble. Often times a wire lead looks ok, but can have a break somewhere (usually about an inch or so back from the end) If you don't have a volt meter, then since your taking the bike to the shop, let those guys check it out for you. And thanks for recovering & saving a great bike from a slow death.

you said you replaed a starter switch so that's probably not it, but I just went through that.. my high beam wouldn't work because the light was hardwired into the fuse box. I found out my starter switch was bad ( the part that disconnects the lights when starting to send more juice to the starter) so i just wired in a switch, but it was a pain in the *** tracing those wires....
