Default hard starting.

Every time I start the bike. It gives me a hard time. I would have to pull the choke all they way down and give it gas. Is that normal? I live in Florida so it doesn't get that cold. Also recently it started idling rough and sputters when I give it gas. Even while riding it it's sputter. Any idea what this could be? Plugs, carbs, bad gas?

You may have answered your own question right there. All 3 of those can cause problems. I'd start with the carbs, give them a good cleaning. If you don't know how, google it. It's not hard, but you need to do it right for your work to be effective. Next try new plugs.

Is the gas old? If so, put new stuff in.

Gas is new. I filled up with 93 octane and added a little sea foam. Previous owner used 87 ; (. I'll change the plugs first and see if that helps.

Let me know if that worked. I am having the same issue with mine. Old owner said it started bogging down on throttle.

seafoam can cause your engine to bog down and sputter. i would just ride till you get to half a tank then refill again to dilute the seafoam a bit more. i havent heard very many people advise seafoam over taking the carbs off and cleaning them due to this happening a majority of the time.

How many miles, i used to have an F3 and it developed a hard starting problem, Twice, first it was the fuel pump, the second one and many miles later turned out to be tight valves....

So assuming everything is in check ( plugs, pump, tight clamps, clean carbs), check your valves.

I was having the same problem for a while. I cleaned the carbs and replaced the spark plugs and it solved my problem. I have also heard of the fuel pumps causing hard start problems as well. You may want to make sure you have a good hot battery while your at it. The faster turn over of the engine makes a big difference in how quickly my 95 F3 starts.
