handlebar question
Here is the problem. The bike has been lowered by 1" from the person i bought it from. I like the way it handles now, however the handlebar/clipons are a little low on the forks. I want to raise them up to the top of the forks were they used to be, however once i raise them the dimple on the clipons will no longer be engaged in the fork tube clamps. (hope i explained that well enough) I am a little concerned that the dimples on the clipons are there for safety if they loosen, but i really dont see them coming loose if i raise them and properly and torque them down.
what are your guy's thoughts
thanks

RE: handlebar question
umm...your bikes been lowered about 2 inches
easy fix to raise it back up
put the bike on a rear stand...put a jack under the header
loosen the 4 bolts on the upper and lower triple that hold the forks in place....then simply jack it up till its all the way back to stock
then tighten it all back down and your set

RE: handlebar question
I would raise it, but the problem is the rear has also been lowered. He changed out the dog bone in the rear and i do not have the factory one. So basically raising it back up at the moment is not an option. I do like how it handles the way it sits, i'm just concerened about raising the handlebars and not utlilzing the dimples on the clip-ons that engage in triple tree clamps.

RE: handlebar question
you should get a stock rear link then....
you can bring the clip ons back up and be ok..as long as you tighten the crap out of them
i cut those little dimples off mine so i could turn my bars out

its not a good idea..just the other day i was riding and when i pulled it up my left clipon folded in on me..scared me pretty good
and plus...doing that will look retarded lol
good luck though

RE: handlebar question
The dimples are there for safety reasons, if you notice, there's a little ring at the top of the forks that makes it impossible to remove the clip-ons without first removing the little ring. This way (with stock suspension height), if the bolt securing the clip-ons suddenly loosens, the clip-on won't come up past the dimple and therefore the clip-on won't move around.
Now if you do raise the clip-ons up higher, you'll probably have problems with the master cylinder hitting your fairing, and your throttle and clutch cables might not allow for full movement of steering.
