Default Got this bike 2 weeks old and already problems

I'm kinda mad that I ran into this problem today I was riding my bike shut off then got it back home it idled until rpms drop and died out and if you use the idle screw the rpms go up to 3 grand and if you try to idle it down you turn the lever half way it just shuts off. Kinda mad like I said I bought it for a second driver so when I have to work on my car so any help would be appericated thanks

get it started again and measure voltage on the battery, while running it should be 13-14 volts dc. if its any less than 13 then your r/r is probably bad. not a big deal if it is, its a fairly easy and cheap fix

Other possibility is a clogged jet, you can try running some carb-cleaner through the tank.
Best bet would be a through cleaning, though.

Here's some diagnostic links, to check the electrical possibilities...

Charging System Diagnostics - Rectifier/Regulator Upgrade - Triumph Forum: Triumph Rat Motorcycle Forums

Technical Resources - Resources for Electrical Systems on Motorcycles and ATVs - ElectroSport

Good luck, Ern
