Going to check out a 96' F3
New to the forum and I had a few questions about an F3 I'm looking at getting tomorrow..
Guy said he got into a little front end collision, bent the front forks and now he's selling it. Based on the pictures he had, there was really no real damage beyond that and a little scuffing on the side fairing.
I'm planning on getting it since it only has 23k miles, two bros exhaust, and overall looks in really good shape besides the front being a little dinged up and he wants like 750 for it all and it still has a clean title. If that all checks out at least..
What other things should I check out on it? Would it be hard to replace them if I get all the parts I need? And could this have caused any frame damage on the front end? Any other thinks I should check on it?

replacement forks are fairly cheep on ebay, as for other damage, check the triple trees to make sure that checks out and make sure the frame, where the trees connect, isnt bent.
but really even if it was bent you could part out the bike and still come out ahead.
as for other things to check, give all the plastics a one over(the whole bike really), check the chain/sprockets for wear and proper tension, make Sure it runs, if the motor has a 'knock' in the upper end its more than likely the CCT which is a simple $50 fix.
if all these dont check out the owner may be willing to drop the price, but really at $750 thats a pretty good deal.
also just pick their brain about what maintenance/mods hes done to it, how often was the oil changed etc.

Ride it and make sure it runs well and the tranny does not do anything is should not like pop out of gear under hard acceleration. The rotors may be warped with the collision. Be sure to check the oil and coolant for anything that should not be there like coolant in the oil and oil in the coolant. Let it idle and run for a little while. Ask him lots of questions. Check the VIN against the title.
As for the frame, look at the head stock where the triples attach to the frame. Make sure it does not look tweaked and if there is any paint wrinkling. If it is bent, it means the frame is toast.
For $750, it should be a good deal if the forks and fender are the only issue.
