So I was looking for a way to attach a bag to my bike without damaging plastics or paint work. Eventually I will fit a Ventura rack but until then I still want to be able to carry stuff- all the seat bags I looked at put pressure on the plastics or didn't secure too well so I looked at tank bags.
Givi have had their tank lock system for a while now so I looked into it. The bags have a female fitting on the base, the fuel filler holds a male ring with an adaptor and the bag fits to this- nothing touches paint. The adaptor ring for Honda (kit #BF03, cost $22 Aus) fits a lot of later models but I realised they all use the same fasteners and screw pattern.
After seeing the bags at a local shop and realising they looked like what I was after I found a second hand one on Gumtree (ST602, 4 litres capacity) and bought it, purchased the adaptor kit from the bike shop and fitted it- perfect fit!
All that's left now is to try it out on the road when I get a chance.
Remove 3 of the original fasteners Fit the ring and adaptor with the 3 supplied fasteners Fit the bag- less than 5 mins total The base of the bag with the retaining clips and release The 4 litre bag doesn't get in the way of gauges or bars as some bigger bags do

Reason: Spelling error
Update: Looks like I may have to trim down slightly- as a "husky" gent the tank bag doesn't allow me to get as forward on the bike as I like for the corners. It would be fine for a relaxed cruise but restricts movement a bit at the moment. Off to the gym!
