1 down 5 up is the standard unless you have modified your shift lever. not if you ever forget this again just look at the case and you will see where it says (starting @ the bottom) 1 N 2 3 4 5 6

 

Hehe, not laughing at you bro... I'm just curious of the circumstances in which you found yourself trying to figure it out.

Make sure that your linkage is on properly, I have an R6 that I put the linkage on the wrong side and it reversed the shift pattern. Havoc described what it should shift like.

 

i don't mean to be coming down on you or anything man, but do you think that this bike is the best thing to be jumping on if you don't even know what the standard order is for the gears?

 

I remember you said that you had just bought a race bike...in which case it could be the opposite of the describes standard...
