Default Fuel Strainer

I am looking to replace the fuel strainer on the petcock of my ‘98 f3. Does anyone know of a suitable substitute for the OEM version? Will one from another make/model work?

I can’t find one on a parts site and I’ve depleted my cache.

I looked on eBay and boy howdy are they proud of them.

I don't give that thing much thought. I don't think I've ever replaced it. I rely on the fuel filter instead.

Fuel filter? Who uses those? Those things just impede fuel flow. :-) JK

if you aren’t worried about them I won’t be either. My existing one may in good shape. I am getting ready to do some work on her and was just going to replace it for good measure.

My new one came with a new petcock. I never saw them sold separately. If my strainer was broken I would simply install a generic (8mm probably) fuel filter before the fuel pump.

They do, or did sell them individually. But all the online parts places are out of stock. I did have some on hand but no longer.
Im not sure I need one but was going to change it Out as part of routine maintenance.

The petcock is still available for purchase, but that makes for a really expensive strainer!

The sad thing is if you take the price of the strainer from eBay, it is the majority of the price of the entire petcock set.
