How far are the fork tubes supposed to stick up about the upper triple tree? I'm trying to rebuild my front end and have no idea

 

sorry thought you were asking about a f4 so I don't know

 

they are about .25 inches above the top of the clip on. Just high enough so you can get the clip around the tube in its recess.

 

put your fork tube in like way higher then you know it should be, so you can see the groove for the top c-clip, install the c-clip in said groove.

SLOWLY lower the fork by twisting and pulling down until you seat the c-clip on the top triple.

tighten upper and lower fork bolts and repeat on other side.
