Default tubes under airbox lid

Underneath the airbox lid, what are those two tubes wrapped in foam bolted onto the lid? To me they looked more restrictive then useful so I reassembled the lid w/o the tubes attached undernaeath. So far no ill effects? My guess is they were air silencers?

Yes, they are silencers. You should notice a more throaty sound now. However it can dump too much air in so watch to see if you need to re-jet them.

I removed the silencers out of the airbox too. I have 6000 miles on and no negative effects what so ever
