Default Flooded Question

Hey all. I am working on a 95 600f3 I just got and need some help. When I try to start it fuel runs out of the outer air vent cleaner. I can get it started but have to stay on the throttle to keep it running. Any advice on how to correct this?

Thanks,

Tool Man

It sounds like a stuck float or float valve in one of your carburetors. You'd have to remove the carburetors from the bike and open the bottoms of them to get to the floats. It could be a grain of sand or something like it.

Thanks for the reply. I sure hate to pull those off. Maybe I can do that this weekend.

I was thinking...the bike had a K&N filter in it and I put the stock filter back in. Would that cause anything like this?

If it's a stuck float and you dont want to rip the carbs out you can tap on the float bowl with something that wont damage it like the handle of a screwdriver, vibration is a powerful tool and can free up stuff like that.

But you may want to take the carbs out and clean them thoroughly and properly to be sure that everything is working perfectly.

Can you be more specific about which vent the fuel is leaking from? I'm not quite sure what you're talking about in that regard. (outer air vent cleaner?)

It is on the air hose coming from under the headlight along the outside of the frameon the left side (sitting on the bike). The box (outer air vent cleaner/filter) is before the hose goes into the air vent soleniod valve behind the air box and carbs. Hope this makes sense.
