Default 02 F4i Flooded?

so the bike sat for over a year with a pretty full tank of gas - and was started without first emptying and refilling.

anyways, i'm sure the battery is toast but i got it started while connected to my car battery (i know it shouldn't be done - lets keep this on topic)

had it running for about 5 minutes then it stopped and wouldn't start again. it kept dieing when i DC'ed the connection to my battery anyways.

brought the battery to a local shop and they said its toast so i was about to order a battery and some other stuff for it to put on this week - this was before going outside to remove all the fairings to prep for a repaint, oil change etc.

when i took the oil fill cap off - fuel started spewing out... not oil - FUEL.

long story short i pulled the oil plug and drained nearly 2 gallons of an oil/fuel mixture out.

any ideas as to what could be the issue?

sorry if this is a bit scattered - i will re-read and revise when i'm last distracted.

you have a idle control valve hooked up to several hoses on your valve cover (big rubber hoses(3). I know if you lay your bike down it can suck gas into the oil, you may wanna check that out.

i would put money on the return Fuel Pressure Regulator FPR..

anytime one of these bikes sits for that long with gas varnishing is always the damn FPR..

i've walked people thru diagnosis & replacement if you need help, gimme a shout.

Hey, I'm actually going to replace my FPR this weekend. I was thinking you just need to remove the tank, remove the hoses from the FPR, install new FPR and gasket.
Is it that simple?
