Default few ?s before buying f3

I'm thinking about buying a 1997 cbr 600 with 17k miles. I was wondering what's the highest that I should pay for it. Seller's asking $3900 which seems high to me. Also, is there anything that I should look for?

here's a link to the bike

I love the"Perfect for beginners"line. What a crock.Perfect for experts too with the right rider. That is a little high I suppose but is probably a very good bike. The part about letting it run for 15mins. is really not good for it especially sitting on the side stand, but better than nothing. They need to be gotten out and have the snot run out of them.Thats how you keep them running forever.

Things to look for or bargaining tools.First thing to do is pull the dipstick and if it smells like gas at all the float needles probably need replacing and dont be afraid to tell him that. Also ask if he's ever had the valves adjusted and does he have any paper work on the adjustment.Other than that just use common sense and look over the bike really well.If you find anything offer maybe $3200.00.That would be a good buy.The rest will strictly be your judgement.Good Luck and these are great bikes and virtually bulletproof if there ridden regularly.

Thanks for the reply. Seller just told me that the highest offer was $4000. Yeah right. Perhaps this bike wasn't for me but I'll find out after negotiating.

Well I only paid 2800 for my 98 with 13k miles which was never dropped. If you look enough you'll find a better deal. All depends on how fast you want to get one.

I told them I'm not giving them that much for it. I did find a 95 f3 for only $2000. But after looking at nada, this is less than the bike is worth. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with it and I'll have a new toy by the end of the week.
