Default Fair Price?

I am a new member and have a simple question. Someone in my area has a 1998 cbr 600 for sale. It has a salvage title and he is asking $3300 for it. He says it runs great and is infair condition with a few scratches and has been laid down before. Iam interested in the bike, but not sure if that is a fair price for it? I don't want to get ripped off nor do I want to rip him off. What would bea fair price?
Also, this would be my first bike.

I paid 3000 (canadian) for my 96 55,000k's and some minor rash from a drop, I'd walk away from that one.

I paid 2800 for my 98 with 13k on the clock 3 years ago. I'd deff walk away from that one and I deff would walk away from just about anything with a salvage title unless the frame and everything was checked by a professional shop.

Dont walk away just because a bike has a salvaged title. It could of been all plastic damage and theres a gem underneath like my case. I wouldnt spend more then $1500-$1700 on a salvaged bike though.

+1 I agree, don't walk just because it has a salvage title, have it inspected, I it has a bent frame then walk, if it is all cosmetics use the salvage title to your benifit and talk him down in price. Also If you are going to deal bring the CASH in hand with you, moneyspeaks ina language everyone understands!!
