if you read the link i posted, you would have seen that there is not a fully functioning fuel gauge...the fuel gauge only appears when the tank switches to reserve and there is .98 gals or less..and apparently is isn't even accurate when it does appear. f4i owners assume that gauge is on a timer and counts down, so you may still run out of gas depending on your riding habits..
