Default f4i conversion filler piece

I've noticed a few people doing the "F4i" conversions. It seems that everyone who does looks great good. The only part of the bike that doesn't look like it is stock is the space between the rear fearing and the and the gas tank. I just wanted to share a couple of ideas that might help. The aluminum that I used is .040 5052. I've never posted on this site before, so I hope I do this right.

It's been bothering me about mine and I was going to sit down and figure something out this winter. You just made life easier for me. Looks great.

So how exactly did you do this? some sanding and mending between the two materials and then paint over it? The gap that you filled is the exact reason Ive been putting on actually buying the 600rr filler piece and completing the conversion

I used a metal bender to put a 90 degree lip on the top of the aluminum. I then cut the original plastic back seveal inches so there would be plenty of aluminum to shape and bond to. After I bonded the two, I sanded them both together to make the piece flat between the two. I then used as little filler that I could to smooth everything out. The hardest part is trying to get the aluminum to match the profile of the tank.
