how much should the f3 stock gauges cost? found them on ebay for about $150 used but a local shop wanted $1100 for the them!!!
you could get the f4 gauges for about $150 on ebay as well. i guess its worth it to get the f4's

I've had my gauges installed for quiet some time now, but FINALLY got around to making a PERMANENT mount for them. (Been busy with a new baby and all).
I'll try and take pictures later this afternoon.
If anyone is interested in how I did it, so they can do it them selfs, this is how it was done.
I went down to the local tank and steel shop and picked up a 1'x1' sheet of 20ga galvinized. I measured and had them cut it for me. 11 1/4 x 6 1/4, I also had them round the corners. I mocked up on the bike and measured in on the lower corners 2 1/2" in, and 3" up. I then put it in a vice and bent the corners in to almost a 90* angle. Mocked up again, drilled my 7 holes (3 for mounting the mount, 3 for mounting the gauges, and 1 to run the wire loom through.) I then took it off, sanded it, and painted it.

@ grizzly: I think $150 is a pretty reasonable price. MSRP is well over $600(not the $1,100 your local shop wanted). I actually have a set of F3 gauges I'm looking to get rid of.. and I am asking $150+shipping. If interested, PM me and we can go over details.
@ ubc90: Bullit70's link is the same tutorial which got me involved in the swap. If you're going to do it and have any doubts, it's the reference to use. Just make sure that, if you live in the states, you get a set of F4i gauges which read Fahrenheit and not Celsius like I did! Also, be gentle when removing the F3's temp. sending unit. I sheared mine in half and had to figure out a way to get the rest of it out of my bike so I could proceed. What a nightmare!
For anyone interested in how to mount the gauges, you can do as SHugo did.. or you can do what I did. I took an old vanity license plate and a set of tin snips.. and started cutting away until I had something that worked. Here is a pic of the mount prior to being drilled or spray-painted:
