Default F3 Rebuild.

okay. I replaced the motor and the carbs with a newerish set. they only have 12k miles on it. I finished everything today and fired it up. The bike is running a little strange. I was wondering if anyone can help me out. When i crank the bike up it back fires when in low rpms less than 2k. If its over 2k no back firing. Then i got the bike to idle around 2500rpms for about 10 minutes to warm up. When i took it for a test ride, about 2 miles, the bike wants to bog down at 4k rpms then it will just go to about 5500~6k and run smooth I didnt try to take it past 7k but the motor ran good between 6k~7k. Now after i got back the bike wont idle anymore. I go to turn it over it cranks revs hit 2k and it back fires and kills the engine. If anyone can help me out ide appreciate it.

*edit*
Tomorrow I am going to take it back down and clean the carbs and adjust my throttle to see if it helps, but any other suggestions would be great.

How long did the engine and carbs sit?

I assume a little over 2 weeks. They both came out of a running bike the guy said. I actually think though it was a few things on my part that may have played into affect. I just used the same gas that was in the tank, that has been in there since march of '06 andIhad the throttle cableranwrong. Today thoughI cleaned the carbs, replaced the gas, added a fuel cleaner, adjusted the throttle, and praying all night that when i reinstall it all tomorrow it works. Wish me luck. If that doesn't help fix my problem does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

That will keep it from running right.Pump gas is usually good only for a few months,if it was more refined gasoline (higher quality).

Fire it up first.Asking what may go wrong before the bike is run is similar to giving a haircut over the phone.

Capisce? (Sorry, been watching Mob movies all weekend )

Right about the fuel, Check that you have everything bolted on & no air getting in from any wheres, that includes the exhaust. Could be a carb sync is needed, but you get funny things happening if the throttle cables are not adjusted properly. Check the in line fuel filter.

Well I fixed the throttle. But Now it just tries to start then it backfires and shuts off. How do I go about syncing the carbs? I have never done any real motor work, and this is my project to learn. Thanks for the help though guys. Atleast i got the f4i to ride everyday Weather is just now getting to be nice here in SW Florida.
