i'm doing the same thing with my 97 F3.

Am one bolt away from dropping the engine...didn't have the right saize socket so off to sears after work. Will post up in a speprate thread. Mine will be taking me a while since I have other projects in the works too...like my 77 VW campervan and a 6 month old daughter

finally got my engine out last night. Trying to get the throttle cables unhooked so I can pull it comepletely out and get it on my workbench to find out what is going on inside. Any pointers? I am having a nightmare getting the throttle bodies off so I can get at the cables.

Trotsky, about getting the cables outa the way. I recommend taking the handle bar off the fork leg. From there you can easily break down the twist throttle and take the cables out. With the cables out of the twist throttle, you can easily remove the cables from the carbs.

thanks mark. Much easier to do with some more slack in those cables.

Will get the engine on the bench tomorrow and start tearing into it.

Nice pics orange. Looks like we are both on the same page right now. I will put pics up as soon as I get a few mnutes.
